Release announcement: Bitcoin Cash Node v29.0.0
The Bitcoin Cash Node (BCHN) project is pleased to announce its major release version 29.0.0.
This release implements the May 15, 2026 network upgrade.
It delivers four consensus change CHIPs that have gained wide acceptance:
- CHIP-2024-12 P2S: Pay to Script (git hash 2bcfa82b)
- CHIP-2021-05-loops: Bounded Looping Operations (git hash bd80d6e9)
- CHIP-2025-05 Functions: Function Definition and Invocation Operations (git hash fad445ab)
- CHIP-2025-05 Bitwise: Re-Enable Bitwise Operations (git hash c6850c90)
and a number of other enhancements, bugfixes and performance improvements.
BCHN users should consider an update prior to May 15, 2026 as mandatory. The v28.x.0 software will expire on May 15, 2026, and will start to warn of the need to update ahead of time, from April 15, 2026 onward.
